KChR residents treat law enforcers' video about explosion in Uchkeken as unconvincing

The video of the incident near the FSB building in the village of Uchkeken fails to confirm that the casualty had intended to harm the employees, a criminologist believes. The video could have been staged, since the conduct of a counterterrorist operation (CTO) is beneficial to law enforcers, lawyers have suggested.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 12, a video appeared on the Internet showing the moment of explosion near the building of the FSB branch in the village of Uchkeken. Instagram users have suggested that the video was edited by law enforcers.

On December 11, in Uchkeken, a man triggered an explosion while trying to break into the territory where operative-search actions were being carried out, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has stated. The attacker was killed and six law enforcers were wounded.

The video of the explosion does not allow to state with confidence that the suicide bomber's aim was to harm law enforcers or kill them, a forensic expert from the division for the investigation of especially important cases of the Investigating Department of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) believes.

"The guy who blew himself up is called a man from a prosperous family ... He was normal, no radicalism was observed. Everyone was at a loss – nothing of the kind had foreshadowed this outcome," said a woman from the Malokarachay District.

Anton Chablin, the editor-in-chief of the edition named "Accents", has suggested that it was an individual action and had nothing to do with the armed underground.

Authorities statements about terror acts have long been distrusted, said a lawyer from Cherkessk. According to his story, many residents of the republic believe that it is beneficial for law enforcers to conduct CTOs.
