Nagorno-Karabakh requests data on fate of 73 militaries from Azerbaijan
The authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh have asked Azerbaijan to provide the information about the fate of 73 Armenian military servicemen who had disappeared in the Gadrut District, the Nagorno-Karabakh's Ombudsperson has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Tigran Avinyan, the Armenian Vice-Premier, said that the capture of 73 soldiers of the Nagorno-Karabakh's Defence Army in the Gadrut District has not yet been confirmed.
The Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported that the hostility zones, with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Russian peacemakers, the search for the missing persons and the removal of bodies of the dead continues.
Nune Ovsepyan, the press secretary of the Ombudsperson, has added that videos with Armenian prisoners of war (POWs) in Azerbaijan are periodically appearing on the Internet.
The MoD should not face the problem of finding out the number of POWs or their names, says Arthur Sakunts, the head of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly. He also pointed out that the issues of capturing militaries after the end of hostilities are not provided for in the peace agreement.
