Tskhinvali protesters set up impromptu memorial to Inal Djabiev
Local officials have met with the participants of the protest action held in central Tskhinvali by relatives and friends of Inal Djabiev, who died during interrogation at the South-Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and urged them to leave the central square so as not to freeze. The protesters installed a photo of Djabiev and lit candles in his memory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 4, Inal Djabiev's relatives launched an endless protest action in Tskhinvali. They demand an efficient investigation into Inal's death, punishment of those responsible and resignation of the Public Prosecutor General.
On December 20, Inal Tasoev, the local Ombudsperson; Zhanna Zasseeva, the Minister of Culture; and MPs from the "United Ossetia" Party had a meeting with relatives and friends of Inal Djabiev. According to Oksana Sotieva, Inal's widow, the MPs offered to become guarantors of a fair investigation of the case, the "Echo of the Caucasus" writes.
"We distrust both MPs and investigators. They offered us to leave the square as they pity us, saying that we'll freeze there. But the dismissal of the Public Prosecutor General was not touched on. But it is he who causes our distrust," the edition quotes the widow as saying.
At night on December 20, the protesters erected an impromptu memorial to Djabiev in the square by installing his portrait and lighting candles.
