Police detain 69 protestors near Armenian government building

A cortege of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan broke through the crowd of protesters and drove away from the government building. The police reported about 69 people detained at the protest action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this morning, activists demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan planned to block the government building in order to disrupt the meeting. The police set up a cordon.

At 11:23 a.m. Moscow time, the "Sputnik Armenia" reported with reference to the press service of the Armenian Police that 69 activists had been taken to police stations.

The mass detentions took place when the police tried to clear the roadway of Tigran Mets Avenue. The activists, being pushed back by the police, were throwing snowballs at government vehicles and preventing them from leaving the territory. A video posted on the YouTube channel of the "Sputnik Armenia" shows how policemen are grabbing activists and trying to push them off the roadway along which a black car is trying to drive. At the same time, the car is hitting a grappling activist and a policeman.

According to Tagui Stepanyan, the ambulance director, medical officers on the spot provided medical assistance to a policeman and a female participant of the protest action. No one needed hospitalization, the "Sputnik Armenia" reports.
