Chair of electoral committee kidnapped in Abkhazia

In the Galskiy District of Abkhazia, people in masks have kidnapped David Sigua, Head of the District Electoral Committee. Ruslan Kishmaria, plenipotentiary representative of the president of the unrecognized republic in the Galskiy District, has reported that today at 5:00 a.m. several men in masks rushed into Sigua's house, captured him, put into a car and disappeared in unknown direction.

According to preliminary data, the criminals hide themselves in the so-called to "lower zone" of the Galskiy District, adjoining the Zugdidskiy District of Georgia. In Mr. Kishmaria's opinion, the kidnappers wanted to disrupt the forthcoming elections on February 11 into the bodies of local government, which are actively prepared for in the District, the RIA "Novosti" has informed.

In his interview to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot," Sergey Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, has called Sigua's kidnapping and arrest of Fridon Chakaberia in the Zugdidskiy District of Georgia to be the links in one chain.

Laurens Kogonia, head of the Galskiy District Department of Interior ("ROVD"), has told journalists, that the Head of the Galskiy District Electoral Committee, is undoubtedly in the territory of Georgia.
