Opposition supporters spend second night in Yerevan square

The night at the venue of the action held in front of the parliament building in Yerevan passed without incidents; some 30 oppositionists stayed in the tent camp. Today, the opposition has planned another rally demanding resignation of Nikol Pashinyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25 the General Staff of the Armenian Army put forward a demand for the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, the Premier. Yerevan townspeople have also demanded his resignation; they took to the streets in protest and blocked the roads. On the same day, oppositionists set up a tent camp near the parliament and stayed there overnight.

Actions demanding Pashinyan's resignation have been held since November 2020, when Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh. The opposition has treated this agreement as capitulation; 17 opposition forces created the "Salvation Committee". Armenian President, Armen Sargsyan, urged the Premier to resign, same as Garegin II, the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church; and on February 25, the General Staff of the Armenian Army followed them.

Opponents of the Armenian authorities have spent the second night in the tent camp in Yerevan. About 30 protesters spent the night in the camp, the RIA "Novosti" reports. At night, they burned bonfires to warm up.
