Three women from Kurchaloi detained for witchcraft

Adam Elzhurkaev, a theologian, has scolded three Kurchaloi women detained by law enforcers for providing occult services, the regional TV channel reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since July 2019, the persecution of residents for providing occult services has intensified in Chechnya. The "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) is regularly releasing stories in which local residents repent of practicing witchcraft after educational conversations with Adam Elzhurkaev, the chief specialist of the Centre for Islamic Medicine.

Law enforcers have detained three women in Kurchaloi, suspecting them of engaging in occultism, the "Grozny" ChGTRK reported in a story posted at night on March 2 in its Instagram page. "The work of revealing sorcerers, healers and other charlatans continues and bears fruit," the channel's report says.

The posted video shows four residents of Chechnya – three women and one man. The above Adam Elzhurkaev is talking to them; two law enforcers are standing beside.

The women stand with their heads bowed. "The talk with the theologian and law enforcers helped them to get finally convinced that they had committed a great sin," said a journalist of the TV Channel.
