GPO reports completion of inquiry into Djabiev's case
The preliminary investigation into the death of Inal Djabiev has been completed; and after the suffered party gets acquainted with its materials, the case will be sent to court, the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia has announced.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a widow and mother of Inal Djabiev are seeking punishment for those responsible for his death and the dismissal of the General Prosecutor of South Ossetia. Since December 4, 2020, they have been holding a round-the-clock protest action, despite the frost.
Inal Djabiev was charged within the case of an attempt on the life of the Minister of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia. The indictment presented by investigators in February contains no proofs of Djabiev's involvement in the assassination attempt, his widow Oksana Sotieva claims. At the same time, the case of the death of Djabiev himself, which occurred in August 2020, is being investigated. Eight policemen have been detained, and Andrei Tskhovrebov, a Deputy Interior Minister of South Ossetia, was dismissed.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case related to Inal Djabiev's death was completed on February 24; and the victim [Djabiev's widow] Oksana Sotieva was notified about it, the GPO of South Ossetia reported at night on March 6 on its website.
The GPO claims a delay with the transfer of the case to the court. "Despite repeated notifications, the victim, Oksana Sotieva, has not appeared at the Investigating Department of the GPO to get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case; therefore, the deadline for sending the criminal case to the court is deliberately protracted," the GPO's statement says.
Oksana Soteva has not yet commented on the GPO's statement.
