Peacekeepers escort trucks with construction materials to Kelbadjar District
In Nagorno-Karabakh, soldiers escorted a convoy of trucks that delivered equipment and construction materials to the Kelbadjar District controlled by Azerbaijan to restore residential buildings and social facilities.
On February 23, the peacekeepers escorted pilgrims to the Amaras monastery, and on February 24, they escorted a convoy with humanitarian aid to the Kelbadjar District.
During the peacekeeping mission, military engineers cleared of explosives more than 1623 hectares of territory in Karabakh, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported.
Let us remind you that the Azerbaijani authorities announced the start of construction in March of a new road to Kelbadjar through Ganja. Furthermore, on January 18, in Karabakh, activists asked the Russian peacekeepers to give residents of the unrecognized republic a possibility to pass to Armenia through the territory controlled by Azerbaijan. The opening of a route of communication between Karabakh and Armenia as an alternative to the Lachin corridor would reduce tension in the conflict zone, political analysts note.
