Heroes of "Editors" film criticize authors for tendentiousness in depiction of Caucasus
When they participated in the filming, Beka Kurdanov and Darina Taova, musicians from Nalchik, did not know that the film of the "Editors" project would be devoted to the situation with the women's rights in Northern Caucasus. Now they find their participation in the film inappropriate. The problem of domestic violence is important for the whole country and is not the norm in the Caucasus, as the film presents, notes Khetag Koliev, a blogger from Vladikavkaz.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the film was released on the YouTube Channel of the "Editors" project, launched by Alexei Pivovarov, the former editor-in-chief of the "RTVi" TV Channel. The filming was carried out in Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chechnya, and Kabardino-Balkaria. Residents of the above-mentioned regions state that the filmmakers presented Northern Caucasus in a one-sided way.
Nina Tseretilova, a resident of Makhachkala, is one of the women, whose stories are depicted in the film. When she was a child, she underwent genital mutilation procedure. At the age of 14, Nina Tseretilova got married, and then she gave birth to three children. The woman was humiliated and beaten by her husband. At present, Nina Tseretilova is trying to sue her husband for custody of the children.
Magomed, the former husband of Nina Tseretilova, joined her harassment, organized by social media users.
Khetag Koliev, who launched the "woodoomedia" YouTube channel, considers domestic violence to be a global problem. However, the film released by the "Editors" project made a double impression on him. It is worth publicly talking about domestic violence and drawing attention to such cases, wherever they occur, Khetag Koliev emphasizes.
Another hero of the film is Beka Kurdanov, who plays with his wife Darina Taova in a rock band. According to him, activists from the "Editors" project explained to him that they were shooting a film about the creative youth of the Caucasus. In that regard, Beka Kurdanov was very surprised when the film was released under the title "Female prisoners of the Caucasus: Who is fighting the rules of the most closed region of Russia?"
