Nikol Pashinyan announces date of parliamentary elections

Elections to the Armenian parliament will take place on June 20, and a relevant agreement has been reached after consultations with members of parliamentary parties, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed to the parliament to hold early elections in 2021 in order to test the level of trust in the current authorities.

Today, after a meeting with Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia", the second largest parliamentary faction, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has written on Facebook that early elections to the Armenian parliament will be held on June 20. Nikol Pashinyan and Gagik Tsarukyan agreed that the best way out of the current internal political situation is to hold early parliamentary elections.

"Taking into account my discussions with the President of Armenia, the 'My Step' faction, and the leader of the 'Prosperous Armenia' faction, the early parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on June 20 this year," announced Nikol Pashinyan as translated from the Armenian language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
