Stepanakert protesters demand to protect Armenian monuments

On April 16, on the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Nagorno-Karabakh, a rally was held near the Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos in Stepanakert, where the participants called on the international community to take practical measures to prevent the destruction of Armenian historical monuments located in the territories occupied by Azerbaijan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The rally was attended by public organizations, university students and high school pupils of Stepanakert, the Nagorno-Karabakh capital. They came with posters condemning the desecration and destruction of Armenian historical monuments. Also, the rally was dedicated to the International Day of Monuments and Landmarks, which is marked on April 18.

"The preservation and protection of historical and cultural monuments is one of the most important mission of every nation; therefore we must take part in expressing our protest," Arman Grigoryan, the head of the department for the study, protection and preservation of historical and cultural monuments of the above Ministry, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
