Instagram users criticize Chechen law enforcers for double standards

In Grozny, law enforcers oblige drivers to remove the tint film from their cars, but use similar tinting themselves, Instagram users point out.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Ramzan Kadyrov associated the road accident rate in Chechnya with an increase in the number of tinted cars. The leader of Chechnya instructed his subordinates to “completely eradicate” the problem, also by involving drivers’ relatives.

Chechen officials regularly threaten drivers for various violations and conduct raids, during which drivers have to remove the tinting even from rear windows of their cars.

On April 18, in Grozny, a police raid took place with the participation of all vehicles of the Grozny GIBDD (road police). “Apart from the tinting, nets and curtains are also prohibited, and violators are obliged to remove them on the spot,” the “Grozny” TV Channel reports. Tinting film and its analogues impair visibility at night and allow drivers hiding violations, such as conversations on mobile phones while driving and failure to use seat belts, the “Grozny” TV Channel notes on its Instagram page.

User uv__95 sees no sense in the total ban on tinting. “No accidents occur due to tinting. On the contrary, a driver needs tinting to avoid being blinded by the sun, or there are people with skin diseases,” wrote user shakhrani5.
