Peacemakers escort group of pilgrims to Amaras Monastery

75 pilgrims from Stepanakert and its environs have visited the Amaras Monastery, accompanied by peacemakers, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Nagorno-Karabakh, peacemakers are systematically ensuring safety of pilgrims on their way to monasteries. On April 6, pilgrims from Stepanakert, accompanied by peacemakers, visited the Amaras and Didivank Monasteries situated in the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh that have passed under Azerbaijan's control.

Russian peacemakers have accompanied another group of pilgrims from Stepanakert to the Amaras Monastery, the Russian MoD has written on its website today.

Residents of Stepanakert and the towns and villages adjacent to the monastery have made the pilgrimage trip; in total, there were 75 persons in the group.

"People can get here without Russian peacemakers, but it’s not safe," the Russian MoD has quoted Kegart Ogannisyan, the Abbot of the Amaras Monastery, on its website.
