Azerbaijan accuses Armenian military personnel of massive border violation

On June 1, about 40 Armenian soldiers entered the territory of Azerbaijan near the village of Armudlu in the Kelbadjar District. The Azerbaijani troops took them out of the country without using firearms, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on May 27, six Armenian soldiers, who were mining the area near the border between Gegarkunik Region and Azerbaijan, were captured. Baku declared the detainees to be reconnaissance agents who were trying to mine a road on the Azerbaijani territory. The General Headquarters of Armenia counted 1000 Azerbaijani soldiers on the contact line of the troops.

“The invasion of the Armenian armed forces into the territory of Azerbaijan is one more provocation, and the responsibility for it is entirely on the Armenian side. The incident once again demonstrates that Armenia seeks to aggravate the situation along the state border of the two countries,” the MoD of Azerbaijan declared.

The Azerbaijani military officials warned that they “will continue to use decisive measures to prevent violations of the borders of Azerbaijan and the invasion of the armed forces of Armenia.”
