Political analysts treat Kadyrov's participation in election of head of Chechnya as predictable

The carte blanche issued by Putin to Kadyrov for taking part in the upcoming September elections has confirmed that Kadyrov's May statement about his readiness not to run for a new term was nothing more than ritual, the political analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 23, the delegates of the World Congress of Chechen Nations adopted a resolution calling on Ramzan Kadyrov to nominate him for participation in the next election of the head of the region, which will be held on September 19. Kadyrov promised to convey the position of Chechen nations to Putin, which he did on the same day. In response, the Russian President voiced his proposal to Kadyrov to take part in the autumn elections in order to continue leading Chechnya.

Earlier, at a meeting with the participation of members of the government, parliament, local self-government bodies, law enforcement bodies, and religious figures, Ramzan Kadyrov declared that he would not participate in the upcoming election if at least “a few percent of the population” opposed his candidacy.

"Nothing has predicted Kadyrov's exit from the post of the head of Chechnya. Should the operation "Successor" was being prepared, he would have already been presented. And now it is the end of June, and the elections are in September," Evgeny Minchenko, the head of the consulting group, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent in his comment on the outcome of Putin's meeting with Kadyrov.

The Kadyrov's statement that he would not run if even a few percent of the population voted against his candidacy was nothing more than "ritual", the political analyst believes.

Professor Alexei Malashenko also treats the Kadyrov's statements that he will not run as "ritual platitudes." “This is an absolutely ritual, banal statement, in order to be able to say afterwards: here, you see, I was asked, I was forced, and I am fulfilling the people's will. I don't want this job, I'm always ready to leave, but people want this," Professor Malashenko has stated.
