In Yerevan, protestors demand to recognize election results

Today, the “For the Sake of the Republic” Party has held a rally in front of the building of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, which is considering claims of the opposition demanding to cancel the results of the parliamentary elections. Participants of the protest action called on the judges not to try to encroach on the power of the people.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that observers and the opposition pointed out numerous violations committed during the early parliamentary elections, which took place in Armenia on June 20. On July 2, the “Hayastan” and “I Have Honour” blocs and the “Zartonk” and the “Armenian Motherland” Parties submitted claims to the Constitutional Court with the demand to declare the election results invalid.

Today, supporters of the current government have gathered in front of the building of the Constitutional Court of Armenia. The action was organized by the “For the Sake of the Republic” Party, which members stated that they would not allow the Constitutional Court to decide in favour of the opposition, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reported with reference to the broadcast on the “1in.am” website.

According to the participants of the action in front of the building of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, the fair and transparent elections have been held in Armenia for the second time, and “at the same time, something paradoxical is happening when the political forces that committed a lot of violations during the elections are addressing the Constitutional Court with a request to recognize the election results invalid,” the protesters claim.

Arman Babadjanyan, the leader of the “For the Sake of the Republic” Party, called on all political forces to accept the results of the elections held on June 20. “We came here to warn the Constitutional Court not to even try to make a decision that would encroach on the power of the people,” Arman Babadjanyan stated.
