Armenia refutes Azerbaijan's statement about shelling

The statement of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) about the shelling of its positions from the Armenian ones stationed in the Gegarkunik District of Armenia has nothing to do with reality, the Armenian MoD has stated.

The Azerbaijani MoD reported that on July 15, units of the Armenian Armed Forces shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of the village of Yukhary Airym of the Kelbadjar District. The Azerbaijani Army opened a return fire and reported no casualties or wounded persons among its personnel, the Azerbaijani MoD has stated.

The Armenian MoD has treated the statement of its Azerbaijan counterpart about the July 15 shelling in the Gegarkunik District as an information provocation.

"Armenia hasn't violated the ceasefire. If necessary, Armenian units are undertaking actions only to counter the enemy," the statement says.

  • Analysts treat Chechen authorities' demands for apologies as selective
