Relatives of Armenian POWs demand a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan

Relatives of Armenian prisoners of war kept in Azerbaijan, including convicts, went to a protest rally in front of the building of the Armenian government. The protestors promised to continue their action until officials provide them with concise answers about the situation with the prisoners of war (POWs).

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 3, in exchange for maps of minefields in the Fizuli and Zangelan Districts, Azerbaijan returned 15 Armenian prisoners of war, and in June 12, people were returned in exchange for maps of minefields in the Agdam District.

“Out of the 62 guys from Shirak, 38 are still being kept in captivity in Baku ... We expected that a solution would be found and our guys would return home. Unfortunately, we still have to wait,” said one of the protesters as quoted by the news agency “News Armenia”.

“We were promised that 20-25 people would return in late July. The remaining 20 people were supposed to return before August 15, but the guys were sentenced to six years of imprisonment,” the news agency quotes another protester as saying.

There is no progress in the process of returning the prisoners of war, claims one of the protesters.

According to the protesters, they want to receive from members of the government at least some information about the fate of the prisoners of war, although they have no great hopes, since all the meetings held earlier had no sense.
