Azerbaijan claims shelling of its positions in two districts

The Armenian Armed Forces opened fire on the positions of Azerbaijani militaries stationed in the Kelbadjar and Gadabay Districts of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

Armenia and Azerbaijan are regularly exchanging accusations of shelling. Thus, on August 12, Armenia announced a shootout on its border with the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR). In the morning on Friday (August 14), the Azerbaijani MoD claimed the shelling of its positions located in the Lachin, Fizuli and Khodjaly Districts from the territory of Armenia and from Armenian positions deployed in the Karabakh conflict zone.

"The shelling was conducted from small arms from the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces located in the dwelling settlements of Ashagy Zagaly and Zarkyand of the Basarkechar District, and Goisu, Chyambarak District on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army located in the settlements of Istisu and Yukhary Airym of the Kelbadjar District, and Galakyand of the Gadabay District," the Azerbaijani MoD has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that after the withdrawal of Nagorno-Karabakh militaries from the territory of the Kelbadjar (Karvachar) District on November 25, 2020, units of the Azerbaijani Army entered its territory.
