Armenian soldier killed on Azerbaijani border
Vaan Tatosyan, a senior warrant officer, was killed today by a sniper shot from the Azerbaijani side, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Azerbaijani MoD informed today that Armenian soldiers shelled the Azeri military positions stationed on the border of the Ararat Region of Armenia and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR) from submachine and machine guns today. The Armenian MoD, in its turn, has accused Azerbaijan of a night provocation on the border near the Black Lake.
This morning, Azerbaijani militaries shelled the Armenian positions located on the NAR's border, in particular, near the village of Eraskh of the Ararat Region, the Armenian MoD has reported.
According to the MoD, at about 9:50 a.m. local time, an Armenian soldier, senior warrant officer, Vaan Tatosyan, born in 1975, was killed by a sniper shot from the side of Azerbaijan.
After the retaliatory measures undertaken by the Armenian side, "the enemy also suffered losses," says the MoD's statement, which was translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
As of 11:34 a.m. Moscow time, the Azerbaijani MoD had not commented on this statement. Earlier today, the MoD has announced the information about the provocation of Azerbaijani militaries near the Black Lake to be false.
