Border villages of Armenia and Azerbaijan come under fire
Azerbaijani militaries have shelled the villages of Kut and Norabak, Yerevan has reported. However, Baku has refuted this information and accused Armenian militaries of shelling the positions of Azerbaijani military servicemen in the village of Yukhary, Airym, Kelbadjar District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan are regularly blaming each other for shelling at the border. According to the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD), during the shelling conducted in the morning on August 16, a serviceman was killed; later, another soldier was reported dead by the MoD.
Azerbaijani armed units are shelling the border villages of Kut and Norabak, Arman Tatoyan, the Armenian Ombudsperson, has written in his Facebook page.
According to his version, targeted fire is being conducted from different-calibre weapons. "Residents are trying to hide in shelters," the Ombudsperson wrote, adding that actions of Azerbaijani militaries "violate villagers' security and peace."
In the evening on August 16, the Azerbaijani MoD also announced the shelling of its positions located in the Kelbadjar District. According to the MoD, the shelling was conducted from the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces stationed in the village of Zarkyand, Vardenis District, at the positions of Azerbaijani militaries located in the village of Yukhary, Airym, Kelbadjar District. The MoD has also refuted the information about the shelling of the villages of Kut and Norabak, the "Interfax-Military News Agency" has reported.
