Daudov threatens Zakaev with public condemnation by his relatives
Relatives of Akhmed Zakaev, who lives in Great Britain, will be forced to publicly condemn him if he does not stop criticizing the Chechen authorities, claims Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament. The threat was voiced against the background of the detention of Akhmed Zakaev’s relatives in the Urus-Martan District.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 15, in a joint broadcast on Instagram with Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, Ramzan Kadyrov voiced threats against Akhmed Zakaev, a resident of Great Britain. The leader of Chechnya also accused Akhmed Zakaev of not keeping his promise to return to Chechnya together with his comrades.
Akhmed Zakaev is a participant of the first and second Chechen wars, a special representative of Aslan Maskhadov in the West (2001), Prime Minister of Ichkeria (2007-2009). He was put on the international wanted list on the charge of terrorism, and he got political asylum in the UK.
In September 2020, Akhmed Zakaev reported about the detention of his brothers, sisters, and nephews in Chechnya. In the same month, the relatives of Akhmed Zakaev gathered in Urus-Martan for a gathering, where they demanded from migrants not to interfere in the affairs of Chechnya and declared their loyalty to Ramzan Kadyrov. Instagram users suggested that the relatives of Akhmed Zakaev were forced to speak out against him.
Magomed Daudov suggested that critics of Ramzan Kadyrov “revived” after a special operation in Katar-Yurt, in which Aslan Byutukaev and five other persons were killed. According to Magomed Daudov, critics of the Chechen authorities cannot accept the fact that since then “the concept of terrorism has been eradicated in Chechnya.”
