Salim Khalitov holds a solo picket to express no confidence in parliament of Dagestan
During the first session of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan, activist Salim Khalitov went to a picket in Makhachkala to express his doubts about the legitimacy of the republic’s parliament of the new convocation.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 24, it became known that Salim Khalitov challenged the decision of the Makhachkala court, which ruled to remove him from a polling station, despite his status as a member of the election commission.
Today, Salim Khalitov has held a picket during the first session of the People’s Assembly of the seventh convocation, Dagestani blogger Rasul Asad reports. “A surprise awaits our MPs on the street. Salim Khalitov went to a solo picket. Salim Khalitov was an observer at the elections to the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan, but was removed by the court,” blogger Rasul Asad wrote in his Telegram channel and Instagram page.
The blogger accompanied the posts with a portrait of Salim Khalitov, standing in the square with a small poster in his hands reading: “The People’s Assembly is not legitimate!” “Members of the Election Commission of the Republic of Dagestan, don’t you think that you have confused something? You probably want to say that 84% of voters did not vote at all!” the Salim Khalitov’s poster also declares.
