Natives of Chechnya suspected of attempted lynching of policeman after accident in Yugra
Chechen natives are suspected of trying to lynch the policeman who collided with their compatriot's car; the road accident occurred in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO), investigators have informed.
The accident occurred on October 14 at about 8:00 p.m. Moscow time at an intersection in the city of Pyts-Yakh; one of the participants thereof was a policeman in his private car.
"After the collision, several persons surrounded the policeman's car and demanded from him to get out," the Investigating Department (ID) for the KhMAO-Yugra of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has stated today on its website. Investigators have opened a criminal case under the article on the use of violence against a state servant (Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the report says.
A video of the incident with the policeman in Pyts-Yakh was posted on October 15 by the "Baza" Telegram channel. It shows a group of people surrounding a car of the road-and-post service (known as DPS) with a policeman inside. Many are behaving aggressively, trying to get into the DPS car and pulling door handles; shouts from the crowd are heard: "He'll go nowhere!" A law enforcer in uniform is standing near the car. "This video shows an attempted lynching of a policeman in the KhMAO. The support group of a native of Chechnya demands from policemen to give them the traffic inspector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), so that they could personally clear out all the circumstances of the accident," the caption to the video reads.
