At rally in Yerevan, opposition demands Nikol Pashinyan's resignation

More than five hundred people have protested at night in front of the government building in Yerevan, demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, amid the aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Two activists were detained.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border worsened. The hostilities were stopped after negotiations between of the heads of the Ministries of Defence (MoDs) of these countries with Sergey Shoigu, their Russian counterpart. Analysts have associated the above aggravation with the border delimitation problem.

At night, one of the protesters was detained after he took off his coat, set it on fire and threw it in the direction of the Armenian government building, the "Newspress.am" reports.

The police also detained Ovannes Ishkhanyan, a film director, the "News.am" has added.

The opposition demands Pashinyan's resignation after Armenian authorities, amid the events on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, announced that they had applied to the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization), but on the same day it became known that Armenia had not sent any written appeal to the CSTO.
