Karabakh special services accuse Azerbaijan of killing a shepherd
Azerbaijani militaries have killed a shepherd from Chartar, who was captured in the neutral zone, the National Security Service (NSS) of Nagorno-Karabakh has informed. Such incidents discredit the Russia's peacemaking mission, the Karabakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Karabakh had reported the detention of a resident of the Chartar community, who had lost his way in the border zone, by the Azeri militaries.
Residents of border villages do not always understand where the demarcation line passes, Gegam Stepanyan, the Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh, has noted.
"They've captured Seiran Sarkisyan, a resident of the town of Chartar, used violence and took him to an Azerbaijani base, where they deliberately killed him," the Nagorno-Karabakh's NSS has stated.
The office of Gegam Stepanyan, the Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh, has stated that the casualty was 65 years old; he was captured while grazing cattle. "This murder is part of the criminal and terrorist acts of Azerbaijan, as well as of its policy of large-scale persecution of Armenians," Mr Stepanyan has stated.
In its turn, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported that a "person of the Armenian nationality" had attacked an Azerbaijani military serviceman at the checkpoint located in the Khodjavend (the Azerbaijani name for the Martuni, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") District.
The Karabakh MFA has urged "the international community to give an adequate assessment of the Azerbaijan's unbridled actions."
