Azerbaijan hands body of killed shepherd over to Nagorno-Karabakh

The body of Seiran Sargsyan, a resident of the Martuni District, who was killed by Azerbaijani militaries, was delivered to the morgue in Nagorno-Karabakh with the mediation of Russian peacemakers. The Karabakh General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) has stated that it knows the name of the soldier who shot the shepherd dead.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 3, an Armenian shepherd from the village of Chartar, Martuni District of Nagorno-Karabakh, was killed by Azeri militaries. The shepherd got lost and was captured in the neutral zone; he was killed at an Azeri military base, the National Security Service (NSS) of Nagorno-Karabakh has informed.

Residents of border villages do not always understand where the demarcation line passes, Gegam Stepanyan, the Karabakh Ombudsperson, has noted. According to his story, there are more and more cases when villagers get lost and wander into the territories controlled by Azerbaijani militaries.

The Karabakh GPO has stated that the killer was Private David Rakhimzade. According to the GPO, a group of Azerbaijani military servicemen had kidnapped Seiran Sargsyan and "deliberately shot him dead under the motive of national hatred."

In its turn, Azerbaijan insists that the shepherd had attacked a combat position.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported about an attack by a "person of Armenian nationality" on the Azerbaijani Army post in the Khodjavend District.
