Three Chechen women publicly reprimanded for witchcraft

Law enforcers have detained two women-residents of Grozny and one resident of the village of Geldagan for practising occultism. Adam Elzhurkaev, the head of the Centre for Islamic Medicine, had a conversation with the detainees, as follows from the report of the "Grozny" TV Channel, posted on the Instagram.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the summer of 2019, Chechen authorities intensified their persecution of the people providing occult services.

At night on December 8, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (the Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) posted a TV report about the detention of sorcerers in the region. "In the Chechen Republic, policemen detained three false healers, who had been fraudulently providing occult services. According to their version, they could manipulate people's feelings, attract good luck, family happiness and much more, but all this, of course, for money. <...> Adam Elzhurkaev, the chief physician of the Centre for Islamic Medicine of the Chechen Republic, conducted a prophylactic conversation with them," said the social network post.

The video footage attached to the report shows Mr Elzhurkaev, several law enforcers and three women.

By 9:00 a.m. Moscow time on December 8, this post placed in the Instagram page of the "Grozny" ChGTRK, which has about one million subscribers, received about 82,100 "Likes" and 626 comments. Most of the authors thereof have demanded that those who turn to sorcerers for services be punished as well.
