Kadyrov threatens Erdogan after opening of monument to Dudaev

The actions of Turkish authorities who are supporting terrorists threaten the Russian-Turkish diplomatic relations, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, has stated after Turkey opened the park named after Djokhar Dudaev, the first president of Ichkeria, in the city of Korfez.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 10, the administration of the municipality of the city of Korfez in the Turkish Province of Kodjaeli solemnly opened the park named after the first president of Ichkeria, Djokhar Dudaev.

Djokhar Dudaev, an Aviation Major General, was in the lead of the movement for the exit of Chechnya from the Soviet Union, the first president of Ichkeria (1991-1996), the supreme commander in chief during the First Chechen War.

The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria is an unrecognized separatist state entity created after the collapse of the USSR in a part of the territory of the former Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and liquidated by federal troops in 2000.

After the news about the opening of the Djokhar Dudaev Park in Turkey, Chechen MPs, law enforcers and clergy appealed to Kadyrov "with a request to respond to the actions of the Turkish authorities, who are covering up the terrorists who had committed crimes in Russia," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on December 21 on his Telegram channel.

He has called on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to "pay attention to this fact and take proactive diplomatic measures against such manifestations." "The current actions of Turkish authorities are a direct threat to Russian-Turkish relations, which have been developing for centuries," Mr Kadyrov has stated.

He has also appealed to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with a request to decide on a policy towards terrorists. "Either you receive the status of a state that publicly supports terrorists, or you advocate transparent and honest relations with the Russian Federation," Kadyrov has written.

He also said that Chechnya reserves the "right to retaliate," threatening to immortalize in Grozny the name of the founder of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Abdullah Odjalan, who is serving a life sentence in a Turkish prison.
