Second Nagorno-Karabakh village shelled within the day

After the shelling of the Karmir Shouka village in the Martuni District, residents of the village of Nakhichevanik in the Askeran District, who were engaged in agricultural works, have complained about an intensive fire from Azerbaijani militaries.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 10, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh reported that Azerbaijani militaries opened fire in the direction of the village of Karmir Shouka (Red Bazar) in the Martuni District, as a result of which a civilian's car parked near the kindergarten caught fire. The Azerbaijani MoD called this message a lie. Azerbaijani militaries also shelled firefighters in the village of Karmir Shouka, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has informed.

"The shelling launched by Azerbaijani militaries was stopped with the mediation of Russian peacemakers; civilians were evacuated. They weren't hurt. Agricultural machinery was damaged by the shelling," Unan Tadevosyan, the head of the press service of the MIA of Nagorno-Karabakh, has informed.

He has stressed that this is the third provocation initiated by Azerbaijani militaries against the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh within the past 24 hours. According to Mr Tadevosyan, after the first shelling of the village of Karmir Shouka, Azerbaijani militaries also shelled the firefighters who tried to extinguish the burning car.
