Ingush female rights defenders achieve meeting with Albogachiev in colony

Abdul-Malik Albogachiev, a native of Ingushetia, who is serving his term in an Astrakhan colony, was never given the family Koran; and the colony bosses insist on his transfer to a barrack with the inmates who are in conflict with him, Zarema Barakhoeva and Pyatimat Yusupova, rights defenders, have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2018, the court sentenced Albogachiev to nine years in colony. At trial, the convict refused from his confessions, explaining that he had given them under torture. His defence claimed that there were no proofs of Albogachiev's links with Syrian militants, and of his ownership of the improvised explosive device (IED) that was found on him. On January 24 this year, Zarema Barakhoeva, a member of the Ingush human rights organization "Prison and Law", at her picket near the Astrakhan Regional Prosecutor's Office, declared a violation of Albogachiev's rights.

The Imam is not allowed to see the prisoner; and Muslims are kept in damp cells, Ms Barakhoeva stated at her picket. Astrakhan townspeople, who paid attention to the protest, said they had heard a lot about torture in Russian colonies.

"Abdul-Malik said that he had only one problem left: he doesn't want to go to the barrack, where the colony authorities intend to transfer him, because of the conflict with the inmates from there, he is in danger," Pyatimat Yusupova, an activist of the "Prison and Law", has stated.

According to her story, Abdul-Malik named the colony wards who put pressure on him.
