Chechen residents' address to healer results in public scolding

Two residents of the village of Engel-Yurt have turned to a healer in Kabardino-Balkaria with a request to improve their family life, after which they were detained in Chechnya by law enforcers; and they were publicly reprimanded by Adam Elzhurkaev, the head of the Centre for Islamic Medicine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya are periodically publicly scolded on air of the "Grozny"ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) for turning to sorcerers and healers for help; and residents who are engaged in providing occult services are also shown on air of the TV Company.

In Chechnya, law enforcers have detained two Engel-Yurt villagers, who were returning from Kabardino-Balkaria, where, according to law enforcers, they visited a healer, the "Grozny" ChGTRK reported at night on February 15 in its Instagram page. "A prophylactic talk with them was conducted by Adam Elzhurkaev, the head of the Centre for Islamic Medicine," the report says.

In their comments on the report, some social network users treated the villagers' public scolding as inappropriate. "Is it necessary to show it in public?" the user kaglrova has asked. "I laugh so as not to cry; I pity the man; he was unlucky; but was it really necessary to show him to everyone?" the user madina39389 has asked.
