Azerbaijan reports about a shelling attack on villages in Nagorno-Karabakh

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the villages of Shushakend and Tagavard were shelled from the territory controlled by Russian peacekeepers, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that reports about shooting attacks on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh are received regularly. So, on February 19, the MoD of Azerbaijan announced a shelling attack on its positions near the village of Tagavard (the Armenian name is Tagavard, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”).

The MoD of Azerbaijan reported about two shootouts in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the first incident occurred on the evening of February 20, when “members of an Armenian illegal armed formation (IAF) in Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeepers are stationed, shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Shushakend in the Khodjaly District (the Armenian name is the Askeran District, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”).

Furthermore, tonight, “the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Tagavard in the Khodjavend District (the Armenian name is the Martuni District, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) came under fire.

As a result of the response measures, the fire was suppressed, the MoD of Azerbaijan reported.
