"Georgian Dream" warns residents against xenophobia amid special operation in Ukraine

Any discrimination against Russians in Georgia is unacceptable and will be prosecuted by the law, said Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the "Georgian Dream" Party. Authorities are trying to prevent Georgia's involvement in the conflict, said Zaal Andjaparidze, the programme coordinator at the International Centre for Conflicts and Negotiations.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that actions in support of Ukraine are held in Georgia every day, where participants also demand the resignation of the Premier Irakli Garibashvili for refusing to support sanctions against Russia. Points have been set up in Tbilisi and regions of Georgia, where people bring humanitarian aid to residents of Ukraine.

There are forces in Georgia, which are trying to involve the country in a military conflict; and one of the ways is discrimination against Russians in Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze has stated. He urged the population not to discriminate against Russians, since discrimination is "a gross manifestation of chauvinism", which is prohibited by the country's Constitution.

There is information about cases when people refused to rent apartments to Russian citizens; and banks refuse to serve them, said Zaal Andjaparidze.
