Rights defenders report about 22 detained protesters in Southern Russia

At least 22 people were detained at protests against the military operation in Ukraine held in Volgograd, Krasnodar, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don, the human rights project "OVD-Info"* has reported.

On March 13, protest actions against the special military operation in Ukraine were held in many cities of Russia; by 4:30 p.m. Moscow time, more than 600 people were detained in 33 cities, the "OVD-Info"* reported on its website.

According to the project, protests were held in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Tolyatti, Chelyabinsk and other cities; and in Southern of Russia – in Volgograd, Krasnodar, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.

According to human rights defenders, in Krasnodar, there were at least nine detainees, in Sochi – one person. In Volgograd, at least seven people were taken to Police Station No. 4; and other five people were detained in Rostov-on-Don.

* The organization is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the register of non-registered public organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent.
