Donbass refugees claim unwillingness to stay in Russia

The administration staff of the town of Krasny Sulin has to work without breaks and days off documenting refugees from the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics (LPR and DPR). Those who arrive from these republics are trying to quickly draw up documents for receiving 10,000 roubles and leave home on the same day, as they do not want to leave their homes for a long time.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the evacuation of Donbass residents to Russia began on February 18, a few days before the start of the special operation in Ukraine. Every day, according to the FSB, from 9 to 15 thousand people arrive in the Rostov Region. Refugees who had arrived there prior to the start of the operation fear for relatives who stayed at home and want to return to them as soon as possible. They also said that they had left their homes at authorities' insistence. Some of them complained about problems with obtaining humanitarian aid.

LPR and DPR residents continue coming to Krasny Sulin in order to receive the due financial assistance.

"We don’t want to stay here; we have our house there; and we aren't at the age to radically change our lives ... Now, it's calm there; however, the houses are ruined and people have dispersed in all directions. Our household is of great help to us," a refugee named Natalia has stated.

Lyubov, a native of Sverdlovsk, said that she didn't want to go for help. "We have no men left there; everyone who is not old enough is at the special operation; there are only women, old people and children left in the city," she has explained.
