Policemen stop action of Polad Aslanov's wife in Baku

Gyulmira Aslanova has held a protest action in front of the Azerbaijani presidential administration. She spoke out against beating up her husband, Polad Aslanov, a journalist, in the colony where he serves his prison term, and demanded to ensure his safety.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 24, the Azerbaijani Supreme Court (SC) partially satisfied Polad's complaint and reduced his prison term from 16 to 13 years. On April 1, at a meeting with her husband, Gyulmira saw traces of violence in his face, after which she held a protest action in Baku, demanding to stop pressing her husband.

After her previous action held on April 4, no measures were taken to ensure Polad Aslanov's security, Gyulmira has stated. Polad was beaten up by his cellmate who cooperates with the colony administration, she has added.

Policemen snatched the banner away from Gyulmira; she demanded a meeting with the president's assistance, but she was forced away from the administration building.

Gyulmira Aslanova was offered to go to the Citizens' Reception Centre of the presidential administration and promised that Fuad Aleskerov, an assistant to the head of state, would meet her there, but this didn't happen.
