Children of natives of Adygea and Dagestan returned from Syria

Ten children have been brought today from the Middle East to Russia. After examination, they will be transferred to their relatives, including those in Adygea and Dagestan, Anna Kuznetsova, the Russian Children's Ombudsperson, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ms Kuznetsova's office had repeatedly informed about the return of children from Syria and Iraq to the regions of Southern Russia. Thus, in December 2021, nine children-natives of Dagestan were brought home from Damascus.

Tonight, 10 children aged from 5 to 17 were returned from Syria to Russia, the press service of the Presidential Ombudsperson for Children's Rights has reported. "Ten Russian children who had been kept in the Rozh refugee camp, six boys and four girls, have been brought home," the "Interfax" has quoted the press service's message.

The children were taken to the Moscow Region and sent to a Moscow clinic "for a comprehensive medical examination." "They will be handed over to relatives; and some will go to new families," says the message.

According to different sources, in the Middle East, there are still hundreds or even thousands of children from Dagestan, Chechnya and other Caucasian regions. Their lives and health are in particular danger after the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by the court, began suffering large-scale defeats; the material of the "Caucasian Knot" entitled "Caliphate children: what awaits them after IS" gives the details.
