Media report death of woman hit by car from Pashinyan's cortege
A car from the cortege of the Premier, Nikol Pashinyan, hit down a pregnant woman, who then died in hospital, Armenian media have reported. The police have confirmed the accident. The Investigating Committee has reported that the driver was arrested.
On April 26, at 6:24 p.m., the headquarters of the operative police department received a message that an SUV (sport utility vehicle) ran over a woman near the intersection of the Leo and Paronyan Streets. The woman was hit by a traffic police SUV, which at that moment was used for official purposes, the Armenian Police reported on April 26 on its official website. "The victim was hospitalized to the "Nairi" Medical Centre. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated," the Police's press service has informed, without specifying the victim's health condition.
Later, in its page on a social network, the Investigating Committee of Armenia reported that the driver of the Toyota Prado police SUV involved in the accident was arrested. According to the statement, the arrested policeman is the commander of the escort officers' squad; and the deceased was 28 years old.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of a fatal road accident, the Committee reported in the post.
