"Sirius" resident fined for discrediting militaries

A court in Sochi has fined Astamur Simoniya, a resident of the Sochi Federal Territory named "Sirius", by 30,000 roubles, finding him guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Southern Russia are periodically holding pacifist actions and are regularly punished under the article on discrediting Russian militaries. Thus, on April 15, it became known that law enforcers had drawn up a protocol under the above article against Mikhail Benyash, a Krasnodar lawyer, who took part in filming a pacifist video clip.

Astamur Simoniya, a resident of the "Sirius" Federal Territory, was fined by 30,000 roubles by a Sochi court after he spoke out in support of Ukraine, the "OVD-Info"* informed in the evening on April 29 in its Telegram channel.

According to investigators, Simoniya, while being at the Adler checkpoint on the Russian-Abkhazian border, pronounced a phrase in support of Ukraine. The court found him guilty under the article on discrediting Russian militaries (Part 1, Article 20.3.3, of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
