On May 2-8, 2022, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of May 2-8, 2022, no killed or wounded in the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
Poet Shamil Arbinin convicted in case of attack on Pskov paratroopers
On May 6, a court in Grozny sentenced Chechen poet Shamil Arbinin to 10 years of imprisonment, recognizing him as a participant of an attack on Pskov paratroopers in 2000 committed by a detachment of field commanders Shamil Basaev and Khattab. Shamil Arbinin was found guilty of armed rebellion, participation in a gang, and encroachment on the lives of military personnel. The Chechen poet was detained in Moscow on March 23, 2021.
Every month, quarter, and every year, the “Caucasian Knot” posts statistics with regard to victims of the armed conflict in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) in Section “Northern Caucasus: Statistics of Victims”.
