Activist Pyunkhan Kerimli pleads not guilty in court
Today, in Baku, a court has started a trial against Pyunkhan Kerimli, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, who was arrested on a drug case after being deported from Germany.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Pyunkhan Kerimli, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who was deported to Azerbaijan from Germany in November 2021, was placed in custody on the charge of drug trafficking.
Today, the Baku Court on Grave Crimes has held a preliminary hearing on the Pyunkhan Kerimli’s case.
An advocate filed a motion to the court to close the case or release the defendant from custody for the period of the trial, but the court did not grant the motion.
Pyunkhan Kerimli himself has stated during the court hearing that he pleads not guilty and has called the criminal prosecution politically motivated.
