Azerbaijan reports about a shootout on border with Armenia

Azerbaijani army units in the Tovuz and Kelbadjar Districts were shelled from the territory of Armenia, after which they returned fire, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan periodically exchange accusations of shelling attacks. So, on May 30, the MoD of Azerbaijan stated that the Armenian armed forces fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbadjar direction. On the other day, Armenia refuted the statement by the Azerbaijani MoD.

On May 31 and on the night of June 1, units of the Armenian armed forces from their positions in the village of Myushyurkend in the Tovuzagali District (Tavush Region of Armenia, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) and the village of Yukhary Shordja in the Basarkechar District (Vardenis District of the Gegarkunik Region, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”) shelled from small arms the positions of the Azerbaijani troops near the villages of Agdam in the Tovuz District and Zeylik in the Kelbadjar District, the Azerbaijani MoD reported.
