Activists demand to punish law enforcers for violence at protests in Yerevan

On June 3, clashes near governmental dachas were provoked by law enforcers, who acted under authorities' orders; since those in power are afraid of revenge for betraying national interests, the audience of the Yerevan rally has claimed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that 39 policemen and 21 protesters received traumas during a law enforcers' clash with opposition supporters in Yerevan, the Armenian Ministry of Public Health has informed. The reason for the large number of victims could be the use of stun grenades with expired shelf life, the opposition has suggested.

On June 4, oppositional activists held a rally and a march demanding the resignation of Pashinyan, the Premier, and his government. They demanded to bring to justice those law enforcers, who, in their opinion, provoked clashes near the governmental dachas the day before, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports with reference to the live broadcast on the "Yerkir.am" portal.

During the rally, the footage of harsh detentions of opposition supporters was shown.

Anna Mkrtchyan, an MP from the "Aiastan" faction, has stated that the clashes were provoked by law enforcers at authorities' direction. "The police have an instruction to apply violence and humiliate opposition supporters <...> Pashinyan and his entourage understand that they will have to answer for the betrayal and surrender of Armenian interests," she said at the rally.
