Armenian opposition abandons round-the-clock protest action in Yerevan

The opposition is closing down its tent camp in France Square in Yerevan and changing its struggle strategy, but not its goals; and activists should be ready to resume its round-the-clock protest regime if necessary. This was stated by Ishkhan Sagatelyan, an oppositional politician.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from April 25 opposition supporters are holding their protest actions demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan. The latest mass action was held on June 11. Members of the youth wing of the oppositional "Resistance" movement claim that authorities are trying to extinguish the oppositional movement by means of arrests.

On June 14, opposition supporters held another rally in Yerevan demanding the resignation of the Pashinyan's government, the "Yerkir.am" reports.

Ishkhan Sagatelyan, a Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, has stated that on June 15 the opposition will close down its tent camp in France Square. According to his story, the opposition will not allow the signing of any agreement that would call into question the country's territorial integrity, and will seek Pashinyan's resignation.
