Bakhtiyar Gadjiev accused of disrespecting the court
Judges of the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) have accused Bakhtiyar Gadjiev, the head of the "Institute of Public Policy", of contempt of the court during the consideration of his complaint.
On July 5, the BCA considered Bakhtiyar Gadjiev's complaint against the refusal to satisfy his lawsuit against the journalist, Ulviya Muradova (known under the pseudonym Ulviya Alovlu, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), Gadjiev himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The subject of my complaint against Alovlu was in her insulting and slanderous statements addressed to me, expressed in an extremely unethical form in social networks," Mr Gadjiev has stated.
According to his story, the BCA judges have rejected his complaint. "In their decision, they concluded that there was 'no insult' in the case. In response, I told them that I would attribute everything that was said about me to members of the judges' families. This angered them, and they drew up a protocol against me. Allegedly, I 'had shown disrespect for the court'," said Gadjiev.
He believes that the BCA's decision to conduct an investigation by the Ministry of Justice can be used to prosecute him because of his oppositional views, and even to arrest him.
