Two residents of Ingushetia fined for discrediting army

The court in Magas has found Musa Abadiev and Sabina Tsurova, local residents, guilty of discrediting Russian militaries. This was reported by the human rights project "OVD-Info"*.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 4, administrative responsibility for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces was introduced; and activists began to be prosecuted under this article. Publications and comments in social networks also become a reason for suspicion of discrediting military servicemen. Thus, on June 12, a woman from Ingushetia was suspected of discrediting the army because of her comment to the YouTube video.

The main danger of the new article is that a repeated violation within a year implies criminal prosecution, Mikhail Benyash, a lawyer, has stated.

This article was originally published on the Russian page of 24/7 Internet agency ‘Caucasian Knot’ on July 15, 2022 at 02:55 am MSK. To access the full text of the article, click here.
