Russia's MoD accuses Azerbaijan of breaking ceasefire regime
Twice in two days, the Russia's Ministry of Defence (MoD) laid the blame on Azerbaijan for violating the ceasefire regime in the Karabakh conflict zone.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 3, Azerbaijan announced the "Retribution" operation in Nagorno-Karabakh in response to the murder of an Azerbaijani military serviceman. The Azeri MoD also reported the occupation of dominant heights by its army. Baku has demanded an immediate removal of Armenian militaries from Nagorno-Karabakh and threatened to take "even more destructive countermeasures" in case of provocations on the contact line. Authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh have called on the world community to react to Baku's actions.
The situation on the contact line in the Karabakh conflict zone has escalated again, the Russia's MoD has stated. "There is an aggravation of the situation in the responsibility zone of the [peacemaking] contingent. In the area of the height of Sarybaba, the ceasefire regime was violated by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces," the MoD claimed on August 3 on its website.
The peacemakers' command, together with representatives of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parties, is taking measures to stabilize the situation.
