Dagestan: four policemen convicted for beating detainee

A court in Dagestan has sentenced the head of the criminal investigation the Buynaksk District and three police detectives accused of abuse of power and beating up a detainee. Two policemen were sentenced to four years in colony each, and two others – to 3.5 years each.

"In October 2018, these policemen used physical violence against a local resident brought to their division," the "Interfax" writes, citing the press service of the Dagestani Branch of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service).

All the policemen have been fired from the interior bodies with deprivation of their special ranks.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that investigators had completed the inquiry into the criminal case against the former head of the Akhty District Division of the Dagestani Branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and three operative detectives of this division. They are accused of exceeding their official powers with the use of violence and special means.
